First Transfer in the Mission

4/10/12

This morning we had a zone breakfast.  Basically, that is when all of the missionaries in our zone go to a member's house for breakfast and find out who is being transferred and what not.  It was fun, but a little nerve-wracking when we were waiting to find out.

I really kind of felt like I was going to be transferred, but I am glad I get the chance to stay in Woods Cross and with Sister Davis. Sadly, we are losing one of our stakes.  :(  We were covering both the stakes in Woods Cross, but now we are only covering the Woods Cross North Stake.  It is sad to think that I am going to have to turn some of my investigators over, but I guess I will be doing that the rest of my mission: either turning them over when I get transferred or turning them over to the ward mission leaders after they are baptized.

On Wednesday we taught a man named Devin.  His brother-in-law called us up and said that Devin was interested in meeting with missionaries.  Those are awesome phone calls to receive.  Devin is a new father, and his baby was blessed a few weeks ago in church.  (His wife is less-active.)  After having his little girl and seeing her blessed, he has had a total softening of heart.  He wants to be able to baptize her when she turns eight, and he is very excited about the prospect of eternal families.  He is absolutely golden!  It really makes sense why missionaries are often told to look for people who have recently had a birth or a death in their families, because they are more receptive.  The Gospel is true, and the plan of happiness really can bring joy and peace into people's lives.

On Thursday we taught a few lessons, including one with Justyn.  He is such a cool young man!  He has really embraced the Gospel and seems so excited to be able to pass the sacrament and be a part of the Deacons' Quorum.

On Saturday Justyn was baptized!  It was so nice to see how happy he was and how much family came to love and support him.  His mom is inactive, but she came to the baptism, and I can tell that she felt the Spirit. Hopefully, seeing her two boys attending church and fulfilling their priesthood duties will help stir in her the desire to return to church.  (Justyn's older brother was baptized two years ago.)

Sunday was Easter!  I love Easter.  It is such a great time to reflect on all of the blessings we receive through the ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Through Him, we can all be forgiven of our sins and receive strength to overcome our inadequacies.  If it weren't for the Savior and His Atonement, none of us would have the hope of returning to live with our Father in Heaven.  Christ lives, and because of that, I can live with my Heavenly Father again.  :)

I also saw a girl who went to London with me.  She is at BYU and was visiting her grandparents for Easter Sunday.  They live in one of the wards in Wood Cross.  Crazy small world, no?

Have a good week.  Remember, Jesus is the reason for every season.  :)

Love,
Sarah
