A Good Week

Back of Preach My Gospel
My first baptism

Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2012 14:52:36 -0600

The picture of the collage is the back of Preach My Gospel.  One of the elders in my district asked me to cover it with tape and I had a little fun putting pictures on the back.  Hopefully, by the end of my mission, my copy of Preach My Gospel will look kind of like that, only cooler.  :)    The other picture is from my first baptism!!!   It has me, Brother Lavender (the ward mission leader), Joe, and Sister Davis.   Joe is super awesome.  Sadly, he left yesterday to go back to Indiana.

On Tuesday we had pday and then I went on my first ever split.   Sister Davis went to a meeting and I went and taught one of our investigators.  It was kind of scary, but it went really well!  I know that I can do more than I have been doing, it just takes courage and trust in Heavenly Father.  I know it is His work, and if I live worthy of His help, it will be given to me.

On Wednesday night Sister Davis and I taught the Young Women in one of the wards.  We talked about member missionary work and how to practice inviting friends to church or mutual or FHE.  Then I showed the girls how to make No Bake Cookies and talked about how they can be used to invite their friends.  It was a lot of fun, and I got to make cookies, so that is always fun.

We taught a new investigator Thursday night.  He is from Denmark and has been going to church for the past few months with his in-laws.  He is really awesome and just seems to soak up everything we teach him.

On Friday we made programs for Joe's baptism and went and set up the primary room (where the baptismal font is).  I am grateful I learned how to use a computer and format things.  It makes it easier to make programs or fliers to hang up in the church buildings.  I don't think I realized how much the skills I picked up along the way in college would be helpful elsewhere.

On Saturday we had Joe's baptism!!!!  Joe was so excited to be baptized and to receive the Holy Ghost. He was confirmed on Sunday and then we taught him again yesterday.  We were going to continue teaching him this week and take him to General Conference on Saturday, but he left to go back to Indiana after our lesson yesterday.  It was sad to see him go, and I will be praying that he will travel safely and stay strong in the faith.

That is my week in a nutshell.  I know it isn't very long, but my weeks are very much the same.  I hope everyone else is as excited as I am to listen to General Conference!

Love,
Sister Snow
